Summer Internship Spotlight

Leeanna Ladouceur

Leanna interned at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, working closely with children and YA librarians in the library’s Family Center. As an intern, she helped develop and implement a tween section. Taking advice from the librarians and building on suggested tween reading guides, she helped select books out of the general collection that could be added to the new tween section and created a tween section policy so that more books could be added in the future. Leeanna also did a lot of reference desk work within the Family Center, answering general questions about children’s books, helping patrons find books, and signing people up for the many programs the library offered. She did some weeding and re-ordering of worn out books as well. At the end of her internship, she was offered a librarian trainee position and accepted it. Now she works at the library where she interned and loves it!
