SLA Student Chapter News

The SJU Special Library Association (SLA) Student Chapter recently visited the Dag Hammarskjold Library at the United Nations New York headquarters. The students met with the reference librarians (including an alumnae of SJU!) who gave them an overview of the structure

and processes of the U.N. library, and described their busy days of receiving reference questions from U.N. representatives from around the world. The students were shown the closed stacks and archives at the U.N., including records as far back as the 1920’s League of Nations

volumes (donated by the Woodrow Wilson Foundation)!

The next SLA student chapter excursion will be to the New York Historical Society, on April 26th. Space is limited, so RSVP right away to Jennifer Jasmin at: slaofsju@gmail.com
