St. John University DLIS Alumni Taryn Rucinski, environmental law librarian and adjunct professor at Pace Law School has shown support for our program by keeping us updated on advances and achievements in her career.  Alumni reports from the field encourages students to work hard and believe there are jobs to be had and respectable careers to pursue upon graduation.

Rucinski  was recently signed on as co-author of the Environmental Law LEXICON (with Nicholas A. Robinson).  Her draft paper, “The Elephant in the Room: Toward a Definition of Grey Legal Literature” was accepted to the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Sixth Annual Boulder Writing Conference in San Antonio 2014.
Rucinski was also awarded the 2014 AALL Chapter Registration Award and Grant from Law Library Association of Greater New York (LLAGNY) to attend AALL’s Annual Conference in San Antonio.

At Pace, the Law Library Teaching Librarians—Cynthia Pittson, Taryn Rucinski, Lucie Olejnikova, Gail Whittemore, and  Vicky Gannon—won the Pace University Outstanding Staff Contribution Team Award for 2013 for their efforts co-teaching the research component of the 1L class, Fundamentals of Legal Skills.

Congratulations Taryn on your successes!  We encourage all alumni to regularly update us on their progress through the field.  Email us your stories at dlis@stjohns.edu
